With exceptional craft beer and community spirit, Felons Brewing Co. will be the go-to spot this summer as they take over the waterfront precinct at Manly Wharf.
With a name like Felons, you’d expect a great story—and there is one! The brewery pays homage to four convicts who escaped Sydney in 1823. After a harrowing 25-day journey, they defied the odds and landed in Moreton Bay, eventually crossing into Brisbane in search of freedom.
Inspired by this adventurous spirit, Felons Brewing Co. launched in 2018 with a mission to craft beers that reflect the same boldness and resilience. Since then, they’ve earned 21 medals and two championship trophies, including the 2024 title of Champion QLD Brewery. Now, Felons is bringing its award-winning brews to ‘Wharfy’—Manly Wharf. The new owners, well-known for revitalising waterfront spaces, are set to create something special at this iconic spot, and we can’t wait to see it come to life!
With over 75 years of combined brewing experience, the founders of Felons are eager to share their award-winning craft beers and community-driven spirit. This expansion marks a major milestone for the brewery, celebrated throughout Queensland for its innovative approach to brewing. Their commitment to using fresh, local ingredients and crafting balanced, sessionable beers has fueled their success. The Manly Wharf Bar will feature a curated lineup of Felons’ signature brews, including Crisp Lager, Galaxy Haze, and Australian Pale Ale. In addition, they’ll introduce barrel-aged beers, seasonal brews, and limited-edition releases.
To complement the beer, Felons Manly will offer a menu designed by renowned chef Corey Costelloe (formerly of Rockpool Bar & Grill), known for his minimalist cooking style and focus on local ingredients. Menu highlights include Clarence River octopus with lemon, chilli, and oregano, and whole butterflied Coffs Harbour whiting. All beef will be exclusively sourced from CopperTree Farms, including a 600g, 45-day dry-aged bone-in ribeye.
But it’s not just about food and drink—Felons Manly will feature an exciting live music program, with jazz, soul, and funk bands taking the stage. The brewery will also introduce its Lifestyle Club, aimed at fostering community through initiatives like run clubs, beer yoga, and charity events. “Manly is the perfect fit for Felons,” says Dean Romeo, brand director of Felons. “We’re excited to share our passion for great beer and community with locals and visitors alike.”
With its prime waterfront setting, exceptional food, and dedication to cultivating a strong community atmosphere, Felons Brewing Co. Manly will be the go-to spot for a cold one come summer!
