Narrabeen Beach has welcomed a fresh new restaurant, Fat Pomelo, from the team behind Paddington’s Chubby Cheeks and Mona Vale’s Armchair Collective.
Owners Songpol and Lyn Manoonpong have teamed up with ex-Mimi’s chef Julian Luczyc-Wyhowski and Executive Chef James Sombunpeng to deliver a menu packed with Southeast Asian flavours at Narrabeen’s newest restaurant, Fat Pomelo.
The menu showcases dishes designed to share, blending influences from Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia. Highlights include the signature Fat Pomelo baos with fillings like crackling pork, soft-shell crab, and vegan karaage ‘chicken’. Larger plates include the crispy skin master stock Bannockburn chook served with satay sauce and the slow-cooked wagyu beef cheek rendang paired with flaky roti. The refreshing Pomelo Salad, combining pork, prawn, pomelo, and mint, brings a zesty balance to the lineup.
The drinks list matches the menu’s vibrancy, featuring the passionfruit caprioska, crafted with kaffir lime syrup and fresh passionfruit, alongside Asian beers, sake, and Australian wines.
Inside, Giant Design has created a space bursting with personality. Fruit crate labels, roaring tiger motifs on the wallpaper, and a 1970s retro vibe come together in a striking fusion of colour and style. Inspired by the pomelo—a symbol of prosperity in Asian culture—the design balances boldness and comfort.
Fat Pomelo offers a private dining room for group celebrations and a lively main area, perfect for casual meals or special occasions. With its vibrant menu, inventive cocktails, and eclectic interiors, this spot promises to be a standout addition to the Northern Beaches dining scene.
Fat Pomelo is now open across from Narrabeen Beach—don’t miss this fresh take on Asian fusion dining.
