Paddington’s beloved agave hotspot, El Primo Sanchez, is shaking up summer with the launch of its vibrant new cocktail menu, ¡No Mames!
Since opening in February 2023, this gem from The Maybe Group has been a spirited homage to Mexico, and its latest menu promises to capture the energy, flavours, and fun of Mexico City’s bustling streets.
Led by general manager Eduardo Conde—Diageo World Class Australian Bartender of the Year 2023—¡No Mames! channels Mexico’s playful contrasts: sweet and spicy, bold and refreshing, modern and traditional. “We take our drinks seriously, but never ourselves,” says Conde. “This menu is all about big flavours and the lively energy of Mexico, with a little Aussie flair.”
Expect tequila, mezcal, and Ancho Reyes at the heart of every sip, with creative twists like pandan, lychee, and white chocolate to keep things fresh. Highlights include:
- Viva la Vida ($24): A zesty, mango-infused twist on a Tommy’s Margarita, with a dash of Ancho Reyes for heat and lemon myrtle for a uniquely Australian edge.
- Marakame ($25): A smooth blend of Tequila Reposado, Nixta, and white chocolate, inspired by the Huichol people of Nayarit and Conde’s own family history.
- Flama Blanca ($24): A refreshingly tart combination of lychee, vanilla, and Calpis, nodding to the culinary crossover between Mexico and Japan.
- La Condesa ($24): This highball captures the laid-back cool of Mexico City’s trendiest neighborhood, blending Benriach whisky, peach syrup, sencha soda, and native plum.
With tropical slushies, mezcal-spiked Negronis, and low-ABV options rounding out the menu, there’s something for everyone. Plus, the bar’s karaoke room, complete with a “Press for Tequila” button, ensures the fun doesn’t stop at your glass.
Launching alongside the new menu on December 12th is Trivia Con Tequila, held every Thursday night. Pair your trivia with $15 Mexican schnitzels, $85 jugs of Primo Margaritas, and a chance to win spicy prizes.
