Guests will sport a blindfold in a darkened room while devouring a secret Italian menu as part of a unique Dining in the Dark experience at Leichhardt’s Capriccio Osteria.
Until you’ve dabbled in the tank of sensory deprivation, it’s hard to imagine how much eliminating one of the five senses could completely distort your perception of what’s around you. Dine in total darkness and everyday flavours become unrecognisable without a visual cue, and as your tastebuds heighten in awareness, you notice new flavour notes and textural elements to dishes you’ve tried 100 times.
That’s the goal of the limited-time Dining in the Dark experience at Leichhardt’s Capriccio Osteria. The sensory tasting will take diners on a new dining experience like no other, eliminating sight as they make their way through three undisclosed courses inspired by the fresh flavours of the Almalfi Coast.
For obvious reasons the menu is kept a secret, but guests do have the choice of a meat, seafood or vegetarian-based menu which has been carefully crafted by chef and restauranteur Michele Rispoli. Michele hails from Positano, a postcard town on Italy’s southern coast and has been actualising his dream of bringing the spirit of the Almalfi Coast to Leichardt’s Norton Street since 2015.
The three-part event series follows a wildly popular stint in Perth and most recently Surry Hills’ boho-inspired European diner, Beast and Co, now making its way to the Inner West to excite and delight local foodies who are after an authentic and entertaining dining experience with a difference.
