Cruise Control: Sydney’s Iconic Waterfront Venue Returns With a New Look and Menu

Sydney’s harbourside icon is back.

After months of renovations, Cruise Bar & Restaurant has reopened, unveiling a brand-new interior, a menu packed with native Australian flavours, and the same unbeatable view of the Opera House.

The Circular Quay favourite has hosted its fair share of A-listers (Kylie, Bieber, Fleetwood Mac, to name a few), but this latest chapter marks a new era. Designed by Luchetti Krelle, the refreshed space is the perfect new spot for everything from long lunches to late-night cocktails.

Leading the kitchen is Head Chef Han Chen (ex-Amare, Felix), who’s dialled into modern Australian cuisine with a focus on native ingredients. Highlights include bush tomato butter mussels, Humpty Doo barramundi with macadamia cream, and a confit duck risotto with butternut squash and crispy saltbush. For those wanting to go big, the Grande Cruise Seafood Tower is an over-the-top celebration of fresh local seafood—and yes, it’s worth shelling out for.

On the drinks front, Tom Bulmer (ex-Margaret, O Bar) is behind the updated cocktail list, playing with native botanicals in clever ways. Standouts include the Lilly Flower (raspberry, lilly pilly, tequila, hibiscus), the croissant-washed Old Fashioned (appropriately called Afternoon Fashion), and the Berry in Sight, a punchy blend of bush apple, mulberry and whisky.

Upstairs, the all-new Melba’s Rooftop pays tribute to Dame Nellie Melba with a private events space bathed in sunset tones and panoramic harbour views. Weddings, corporate takeovers, exclusive launches—it’s all on the table.

As General Manager John Harvey puts it: “This isn’t just a comeback—it’s Cruise, set to cruise control.”

Cruise Bar & Restaurant is now open. Bookings and full menu available here.
