Curly Fries with Seaweed Salt? Chi Chi’s menu blurs the line between casual and refined

Stumble upon this CBD eatery on the ground floor of Grosvenor Place, and you’ll feel as though you’ve discovered a hole-in-the-wall portal to an intimate but refined dining experience like no other. Headed by ex-Rockpool Dining Group, Bremmy Setiyoko, the food menu is equal parts finesse and imagination centred predominantly around share plates, dished up with an unexpected twist.

Brought to you by the team that gave us Bellucci Cucina, Hospitality Mogul, George Nahas knows a thing or two about the prerequisites for building a lasting and successful offering in the CBD.  Much like the space it inhabits, the menu fuses traditional heritage with an ultra-modern embellishment, and the result is a line-up of elevated classics from large plates to share, small bar bites, substantial salads, and everything in between, making it the new CBD go-to for those seeking a relaxed-but-refined bar and dining experience.

There’s a handful of Small’s to accompany a casual after-work drink, snack on Curly Fries with Seaweed Salt & Aioli for the ultimate bar bite staple or go for the handmade Chicken and Prawn Wontons with Chili Oil for an aperitif with an Asian edge.

Stay a little longer and indulge a little further with dishes from the Big’s menu which includes melt-in-your-mouth Beef Short Rib Massaman with Peanut and Kipfler Potato and the lux “Pure Black” MB5+ Angus Sirloin on the bone with Black Pepper and Curry Leaf. If you’re after a lighter bite, the light and refreshing Poached Prawn, Apple, Witloaf and Yuzu Salad which although lighter, is still generously portioned for a satisfying feed. The Chocolate Cake reigns king of desserts, served with Crème Fraîche & Miso, its the perfect satiating sweet to end on.

If you love your tipple with a touch of theatre, you’ll adore the stage-worthy serves of signature libations. The Lucky Strikes with Habiki Harmony and Orange Peel arrives smoking at the table making for a dramatic gram-worthy opening act.

Open now for breakfast and later transforming into a buzzing bar and restaurant for a relaxed lunch and dinner. Chi Chi will be open on weekdays for breakfast, lunch from 11:30am through to 3pm Monday through Saturday and dinner from 5pm until late Tuesday through Saturday with a Chi Chi Snack Menu available in between for those seeking an afternoon tipple and a bite.
