Potts Point Welcomes Opulent Spanish Wine Bar, Bar Lucia

An elegant wine and tapas venue has opened on Kellet Street with a charming Madrid-inspired aesthetic and a female-focused wine list.

Milpa Collective, the hospitality group behind some of our favourite Mexican restaurants in Sydney (Santa Catarina, Londres 126 & Carbon), have unveiled the latest addition to their portfolio, Bar Lucia in Potts Point. The new wine bar is part of the group’s sister brand Vina Collective and exudes an opulent vibe with a delicious selection of Spanish tapas-style plates and a wine list focusing on female producers.

Bar Lucia draws inspiration from the elegant architecture of Madrid and combines it with nature-inspired motifs to bring the laid-back Spanish vibe to Sydney. The bar has an indoor-outdoor feel with an elegant and feminine atmosphere. Dining in a large group? Head to the private back room that resembles a Spanish courtyard with a glass roof and an atrium-style design.

The wine list has been carefully curated by Sommelier Kasia Sobiesiak to focus heavily on Australia’s famed wine regions. The by-the-glass menu is almost exclusively made by women, and the selection comprises over 50 wines ranging from classic to more inventive drops, catering to everyone’s preferences.

Head Bartender Luna Ercoli developed a passion for mixology at a young age and brings her expertise across the cocktail menu. Lucia’s Cheesecake is a highlight made with cheesecake-infused vodka, homemade jam, and blueberry shrub. For a sourer balance, Just a Cup of Tea is a twist on a Penicillin, made with lapsang tea-infused scotch whisky, homemade ginger syrup, lemon juice, and amaro Montenegro.

Chef Katty Calderon leads the kitchen and brings those familiar Spanish flavours to the table in a delicious and sophisticated way. Many of the dishes are slightly altered to align with locally accessible ingredients, showcasing the best of Australia’s produce while retaining the taste of Spain. Menu highlights include Jamon Iberico Bellota Puro, roast sea scallops on the half shell with saffron butter, Ox tongue with salsa pintxo and salsa verde, Jamon serrano croqueta, “El Vermut” Potato chips with sardines, mussels and anchovies with salsa Spinader, and Catalan-style cannelloni.

Bar Lucia brings an elegant approach to wine & Spanish tapas to Potts Point. It is a perfect place to unwind after work, catch up with friends or host to date night.
