Cafe Freda’s Is Back As Bar Freda’s In Chippendale

Drink / 28 January 2025

Cafe Freda’s, the much-loved Darlinghurst haunt, is making a comeback in Chippendale as Bar Freda’s this April with a fresh new vibe.

Sydneysiders, get ready to welcome back a beloved Sydney icon! Owners Dave Abram and Carla Uriarte are partnering with Solotel to transform The Abercrombie’s Lil Sis space, just a stone’s throw from their O.G. location into Bar Freda’s. Expect the same infectious energy and creative spirit that made the original Freda’s so special, now with a renewed focus on crafted cocktails and wines from small producers.

But that’s not all! Dave and Carla will also be taking the reins of The Abercrombie’s nightclub, launching Club Freda’s nights with a promise to showcase emerging DJs, promoters, and creatives. With their extensive experience and a 24-hour license on their side, they’re poised to add something truly special for Sydney’s nightlife scene.

This exciting collaboration brings Freda’s back to where it all began, just a stone’s throw from its original location. “It feels like serendipity,” says Dave, who is thrilled to provide a platform for the next generation of talent.

Bar Freda’s promises a welcoming atmosphere with an accessible and community-minded approach. While the menu is still under wraps, expect a delicious fusion of past and present influences.

Keep an eye out for more announcements and get ready to experience the rebirth of Freda’s in Chippendale this April! To stay updated, sign up to their mailing list here and follow Cafe Freda’s on Instagram here.

And considering Solotel is behind many other iconic Sydney locations, including the darling Aria, North Bondi Fish and The Chiswick to name a few – we know great things are coming!
