The Northern Beaches just got its answer to Sydney’s wellness club obsession.
Positive Energy in Balgowlah is positioning itself as something more interesting than your standard gym: a social destination designed for lingering, not just sweating and leaving and even have a class solely for the boys, yes that’s right and it’s called Bro-lates.
Think Miami Art Deco curves, pastel hues and a courtyard layout that feels more Palm Springs retreat than fitness studio. Designed by Woodward Architects, the space blends contrast therapy (ice baths and sauna), hybrid workouts like S-Pilates (a Pilates-and-spin fusion) and bro-lates (strength-focused Pilates for men), with a café built for post-class hangs. Cold-pressed juices, protein smoothies, golden turmeric lattes and smashed avo on sourdough make it as appealing for a long catch-up as a quick refuel.
Founder Jodie Hines is tapping into the growing appetite for third spaces that offer ritual without alcohol: sauna sessions, breathwork classes and genuine connection. The venue officially launches with a community block party on March 7th, featuring free classes, live music and local markets.
