Join sommelier and owner of Fix Wine Bar Stu Knox for an exclusive wine school session complete with cheese and charcuterie boards.
We all like to pretend we’re an expert in all things wine. Whether we frequent our favourite local wine bar or sign up to a tasting at our nearest cellar door, uncovering our favourite drop comes with practice. But if you’re looking to really dive deep into the world of wine, we’ve found just the event series you need to know about.
Tucked away in the heart of the CBD, Fix Wine Bar + Restaurant has been serving unique drops to Sydneysiders since 2006. The venue’s ethos is simple: to help guests discover unusual varietals and experience quality dining in a relaxed setting. Led by sommelier Stu Knox, Fix has been focused on uncovering a hand-picked selection of 100 wines by the glass (sourced from small family-run vineyards locally and abroad). And Stu certainly knows a thing or two about a great drop, with over 20 years industry experience including as a judge at well-known Australian vino events including the Royal Hobart Wine Show and Sydney Royal Wine Show.
Want to experience Stu’s knowledge first hand? That’s exactly what Wine School 101 is all about. Each month, Fix hosts an intimate event focused around a particular style of wine. Each session is limited to just 22 people to ensure everyone can truly immerse themselves in the event, with Stu taking students through a range of the most interesting and renowned wines he can get his hands on. This October, the event takes inspiration from Stu’s recent judging experience at the Orange Wine Show, showcasing and explore the best wines from the Central NSW region. Guests will taste their way through 5-6 wines, accompanied by a select of cheese and salumi boards.
Whether you’re looking to expand your winemaking knowledge or looking for an unexpected way to catch up with friends after work, Fix Wine School 101 is the perfect way to learn more about the winemakers working in our own backyard.
Hurry, there are only 2 sessions of Wine School left for this year, taking place on October 29th and November 26th 2019. Tickets are $60 per person and the 1 hour sessions include a taste of 5-6 wines, accompanied by cheese and salumi boards. To book, click here and note ‘Wine School 101’ in the booking notes.
