Aenza Darlinghurst, the Amuro team’s wine-forward next act

Aenza Darlinghurst is the wine-forward Japanese restaurant opening in winter 2026 from Joy Liu and Akie Ueda, the team behind boutique sake venue Amuro. Where Amuro goes deep on sake, Aenza goes wide on wine. 80 bottles, 25 by the glass, matched to a Japanese menu with an unmistakably Australian sensibility.

Why we love it

Like Minds Studio has made the most of the Oxford & Foley space, working with aged, rendered walls and layering in textured granite and timber to create something that feels effortlessly calm. The menu runs from sashimi featuring premium Australian and Japanese seafood to izakaya staples and wok-cooked dishes from an open kitchen. It’s a bigger, more social version of what the Amuro team does best.

Quick Bites:

    • EAT: Sashimi plate – Australian and Japanese seafood, house-made sauces
    • DRINK: Ask what’s by the glass. Twenty-five options, and the list is built for exploring.
    • PLAY: You’re on Oxford Street. Amuro is down the road if you want to see where it all started.
    • VIBE CHECK: Calm and considered
