Taste 120 top-notch craft brews from Grifter, Philter, Young Henrys plus many more at the 15th Australian Beer Festival.
Grabbing a great beer in Sydney isn’t a tough ask. In fact, we have a stellar selection of pubs and breweries dotted around every corner of our sparkling city. From the hidden converted warehouses of the Inner West to the waterfront pubs along the Northern Beaches, Sydney beer lovers are spoilt for choice.
And this weekend, there’s an almighty celebration of all things beer coming to the shores of Sydney harbour. Now in its 15th year, Australia’s longest-running craft beer festival (aptly named Beer Fest) returns to The Australian Heritage Hotel. An icon among beer drinkers, The Australian has been the original home of craft brews in The Rocks for decades. And this year, Beer Fest is bringing its biggest line-up yet with over 30 Australian brewers pouring 120 different craft beers and ciders for punters to sample.
From Friday 11th to Sunday 13th October, flock to Gloucester and Cumberland Street for all the frothy goodness. The festival is jam-packed across the weekend with gourmet food stalls, meet the brewer sessions, blind tastings and live entertainment. Plus rugby fans won’t be disappointed, with large TV screens pimped out by Feral Brewing set up for optimal street viewing so you won’t miss a minute of the action.
Beer Fest 2019 will be showcasing the best local brews from the likes of Marrickville’s Grifter and Philter, Newtown’s Young Henrys, The Rock’s Endeavour Brewing, Stone & Wood direct from Byron Bay and plenty more. To satisfy grumbling stomachs, Seabreeze Hotel will be hosting a crowd-pleasing oyster bar along with a variety of street food stalls serving tacos, cheeseburgers, falafel burgers, prawn dumplings and even an Aussie ice cream sandwich.
For those looking to learn about the craft of brewing, head along to the festivals ‘Meet the Brewer’ sessions to hear from the teams at Young Henrys, Modus, Grifter and more.
Once again, the festival is going cashless with wristbands handed out to all who enter the festival. You can top-up whenever you like throughout the festival via stations and roaming staff throughout the event. Pre-sale tickets are available now for $20 (admission and five tasters), or $40 (admission and 10 tasters) and $65 (express entry, 10 tasters, Beer Fest T-shirt and lanyard stubby cooler). For those who still prefer to use cash, internal bars will take all payments the old-fashioned way.
Grab an icy cold beer and head for the outdoor beer garden to bask in the sun, with live entertainment from bands and DJs on Friday from 4 pm to 10 pm, Saturday from 12 pm to 9:30 pm and Sunday from 12 pm to 7 pm.
