Redfern’s Newest Italian Diner: Vitelli’s Upstairs

/ 2 February 2026

Vitelli’s Upstairs brings old New York red-sauce dining to Wunderlich Lane, opening Tuesday 10th February in the former Baptist Street Rec. Club space.

The Grana team, House Made Hospitality’s Stephen Seckold and Elliott Pinn, are behind this Italian diner built around fresh pasta made daily.

The menu reads like a greatest-hits list: familiar pastas, crispy lasagne bites, porchetta ribs, Milanese and multiple takes on tiramisu. There’s also a spicy Caesar salad that’s worth your attention.

The venue shifts as the night progresses. Early evening runs as a proper restaurant, then DJs arrive and the mood loosens around the 20-seat cocktail bar. Expect crisp Italian cocktails and an interactive amaro basket.

The late-night menu delivers a Sicilian bao stacked with Italian sausage, mozzarella and agrodolce pickled peppers, plus a Calabrian chilli and stracciatella cheeseburger. It’s designed for those in no hurry to leave.
