Osteria Luna has opened beneath The Charles Brasserie & Bar, bringing old-school Italian glamour and Rat Pack swagger to Sydney’s CBD.
The new underground restaurant, Osteria Luna, sits inside a 1938 Art Deco building. Velvet drapes, low lighting and moody interiors set the scene for long lunches and late nights.
Executive Chef Billy Hannigan and Head Chef Peter Fiander lead the kitchen with a menu built on simplicity and theatre. Standout dishes include a single-sheet ravioli stuffed with funghi and finished in brown butter. Conchiglie al forno arrives in a retro silver dish with spicy vodka sauce. A veal cotoletta anchors the menu. Tableside caprese adds a nostalgic touch, while a silver bell signals complimentary frozen limoncello coupes throughout the day.
As night falls, the tempo lifts. From Thursday to Saturday after 10pm, the full menu runs until 1am. DJs spin Italo disco and Rat Pack classics on vinyl. Waiters swap white jackets for burgundy velvet. The result is Italian dining with drama, romance and a touch of chaos.
