Meet your new favourite brunch spot, The Tamper Trap, in beautiful Brighton
Whoever said it takes time for any good business to establish itself hasn’t yet been to The Tamper Trap. Nestled on the corner of Bay Street, the new kid on the block is already ticking all the right boxes when it comes to the perfect brunch destination.
With its attractive bright, open décor, incorporating white subway tiles, sandy wood tables, and a wall of greenery, The Tamper Trap will no doubt become many brunch addicts local favourite or place worth the pilgrimage.
Owners Kosta Koukouravas and Kai Churchward are not new to the café world, having gained extensive knowledge and experience working as waiters, venue managers and baristas in well-known cafes including Temperance Society and Mr and Mrs Anderson.
With brunch undoubtedly being my favourite meal of the day, I excitedly perused the menu, which evidently caters to all tastes and hunger levels.
The cheesy croquette benny, with a generous serving of bacon and chorizo, transported me to brunch heaven. I recommend adding a cheeky side of halloumi (you can never have too much cheese) and you will thank me later. If you want to add a bit of spice to your culinary life, the Trapped chilli scramble will do just that.
Sweet tooths will get the sugar hit they crave with the colourful, fluffy, honey hotcakes, comprising honeycomb, chocolate vanilla mascarpone, rainbow sugar, maple syrup, macerated strawberries and kiwi. The dish is as beautiful as it is tasty.
Or, enjoy the oreo vanilla pannacotta, with house-made toasted granola, nuts, strawberries, kiwi, almond praline, oreo and chocolate chips. The surprise in the centre of the pannacotta will make any sugar fiend smile.
If you’re feeling more like lunch, you can’t go wrong with the juicy beef burger with a side of crispy sweet potato chips, or the trio of bao buns.
The health-conscious can opt for the superfood bowl with smoked salmon, or the El Nino salad, where you can add your protein of choice of crispy chicken, halloumi or salmon.
A range of tempting pastries from Noisette and house-made muffins are also on show.
Wash everything down with the perfectly brewed Dimmatina coffee or range of unique Greek cold coffee selections. The banging berries or soul cleanser smoothies are equally delicious and are the perfect beverages for a warm summer’s day.
The Tamper Trap may only be one month old but it already has that ‘old time fave’ vibe. The friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere, great location and excellent food make you want to go back, or just never leave. But hey, isn’t that what a lazy Sunday is for?
