The Reclink Community Cup Returns to Melbourne

Melbourne, Play / 29 May 2018

Sport and the arts converge at The Reclink Community Cup for a fun-filled day of fundraising!

Reclink Australia has just announced the triumphant return of the most talked about event on the community calendar – The Reclink Community Cup. Kicking off in Melbourne on Sunday 24th June from 11:00am to 11pm, this leg in an around-Australia trip will see the Silver Jubilee Rockdogs come up against The Megahertz for an epic head-to-head battle of the musos.
Melbourne’s Reclink Community Cup will return to its home at Collingwood’s heart of football, Victoria Park – bringing the good vibes and sports-loving punters north side to the broadcasters’ home turf.
So what can we all  expect on this year’s music line up? In this year’s event, Reclink Community Cup organisers have once again nabbed some epic musicians to perform for the masses pre and post match. This year’s incredible and diverse line-up includes indie-pop heroes Rudely Interrupted, revered punk-rock legends The Aints!, acclaimed post-punk trio Cable Ties, future soul pioneers Hiatus Kaiyote, hillbilly harmony quartet The Cartridge Family, and one of Australia’s most respected and inspiring Aboriginal singer/songwriters, Kutcha Edwards, who will perform this year’s theme song ‘Everyday People’.
Reclink Australia work with disadvantaged communities across Australia. Supported by loyal volunteers, fundraising events like The Reclink Community Cup help provide programs for some of the community’s most disadvantaged members. Reclink Australia delivers specialist sport, recreation and arts programs for at-risk youth, people with mental illness or disability, people experiencing homelessness and domestic violence, and those facing alcohol, gambling and substance addictions. From its inception back in 1993, the Melbourne event now rallies more than 10,000 avid followers who collectively raise over $100,000 every year for the cause.
This year’s theme is all about community, the importance of social inclusion, celebrating diversity and community belonging. With that in mind, gear up in your team colours and be a part of a fundraising day not to be missed.
