Melbourne’s Pipis Kiosk in Albert Park is set to invigorate mid-year dining with an exclusive series of chef collaborations.
The restaurant welcomes an array of esteemed chefs, including Ross Magnaye (Serai), Aaron Turner (Songbird, IGNI), Almay Jordaan (Neighbourhood Wine, Old Palm Liquor), and Johnson Wong from the Michelin-starred Restaurant Gen in Malaysia. Joining forces with Pipis Kiosk’s Executive Chef Jordan Clay, these talents will deliver four extraordinary dining events.
Christmas in July with Ross Magnaye
The series kicks off on Sunday, 28 July, with Chef Ross Magnaye bringing festive Filipino flavours to the table. The Christmas in July lunch, priced at $85 per person, features a three-course menu with snacks. Diners can enjoy dishes like Québécois-style tourtière, Serai spanner crab, hay-aged roasted duck with bread sauce, brown butter brussel sprouts, Pipis potato gratin, kale Caesar salad, and maple butter tarts. All of this with the stunning Port Phillip Bay as a backdrop.
Northern Thai Flavours by Aaron Turner
On Sunday, 18 August, Chef Aaron Turner from Songbird and IGNI will bring the heat of northern Thai cuisine to Pipis Kiosk. Turner’s menu will showcase dishes like punchy som tum Thai (papaya salad), classic grilled gai yang, and pork crackling with nam phrik num roast chilli dip. This event promises a fiery culinary experience right by the foreshore.
South African Braai with Almay Jordaan
With the arrival of spring on Sunday, 15 September, Almay Jordaan will introduce South African Braai to Albert Park Beach. The Neighbourhood Wine Group co-owner and head chef will present smoky, chargrilled flavours, creating a tantalising menu over the open fire. Jordaan’s unique flair will bring a taste of South Africa to Melbourne’s diners.
Contemporary Malaysian Cuisine by Johnson Wong
The series concludes on Thursday, 3 and Friday 4 October with a special appearance by Chef Johnson Wong from Restaurant Gen in Malaysia. Known for his innovative contemporary Malaysian cuisine, Wong’s collaboration with Chef Clay will offer an exciting cultural and culinary exchange. This event promises to close the series with a memorable and dynamic dining experience.
