Sydney’s favourite Mexican eatery, Mejico has just landed in Melbourne.

Need a reason to flock back to the CBD this summer? Coming to the heart of Melbourne from Sydney is Mejico, the delicious market-to-table Mexican restaurant and bar. With Melbourne’s largest selection of tequila and mezcal lining the shelves, there’s plenty of reason to check out this must-see new spot.

Mejico Melbourne finds its home in the courtyard and glasshouse bar space of the Collins Quarter Building (with entry via the new laneway off Little Collins Street). Inside, you’ll be transported to modern Mexican with an explosion of colour, aroma, music, and plenty of margaritas.

Mejico has been a household name in Sydney since 2013, and the owner and Hicks Hospitality Group Director Ian Hicks is excited to bring the venue to the heart of Melbourne.

This two-story venue features a downstairs dining room in a stunning courtyard and glasshouse setting (to keep you protected all year round no matter what Melbourne’s weather has in-store). Head upstairs and you’ll find a tequila bar and margarita lounge made for a late-night tipple.

As the menu, expect a seasonal offering of fresh dishes ranging from street snacks and tacos to larger share plates. There are Daylesford beef brisket empanadas with raisins, olives, and chimichurri; sweet corn ribs with chili and lime miso; and queso fresco, pasilla chili-spiced roasted chicken with molé negro and kale slaw, and so much more.

Don’t miss Mejico’s iconic ‘table-side guac’ service, where guests can customise their guacamole and watch as it’s freshly prepared at their table. Plus, this spot is the perfect place for a late-night snack with chicharrones (Mexican pork crackling), roasted pineapple, and habanero salsa with blue corn chips, tequila, and herb-marinated olives, and more. available from 11 pm to 3 am Thursday to Saturday).

To wash it all down, there are 260 varieties of tequila and mescal to choose from. With six margarita varieties on offer (from the classic to their signature Mejico margarita), as well as local wines, beers, and ciders, you’ll have plenty of choices to suit every taste.
