The Duo’s Return to Melbourne
This holiday season, Joel Creasey and Rhys Nicholson, two of Australia’s favourite comedians, are hitting the stage together. They’re bringing their well-loved show, Rhys & Joel’s Family Christmas, to Melbourne’s Thornbury Theatre on December 9. Known for their humour and banter, the pair promises a night packed with laughs, storytelling, and perhaps even a bit of shade.
Who are Joel and Rhys?
You probably know Joel Creasey for hosting Australia’s top drive radio show “Ricki-Lee, Tim and Joel,” and for his glamour-laden roles in Eurovision and Netflix’s Comedians of the World. On the other hand, Rhys Nicholson is famous for his appearances on RuPaul’s Drag Race Downunder, Conan, and his own Netflix comedy special. Together, they form a dynamic duo that can only be described as Australia’s favourite self-proclaimed ‘drunk aunties.’
What to Expect at Thornbury Theatre
Presented by Comedy Republic, this comedy show won’t be just about Joel and Rhys. The duo plans to bring a line-up of some of Australia’s sharpest comedians, drag artists, and musicians. Last year’s show had audiences in stitches, and this year seems poised to up the ante. So prepare yourself for a night of pure, unfiltered comedy that’ll keep you laughing till the very end.
Joel Creasey shared his excitement, stating that rejoining Rhys Nicholson on stage for a Christmas tour makes for an extremely happy and, of course, fabulous holiday. Rhys Nicholson concurred, joking that the best way to get into the Christmas spirit is by, you guessed it, having a gin.

For those not in Melbourne, don’t fret. The comedy tour will also take place in venues across Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Hobart, and Wollongong from November 30 to December 9.
