Summer night markets

The Queen Vic summer night markets are buzzing with the smell of food, entertainment, and drinks all around. Plus, you can shop around for market finds. Earrings of every shape, size and colour for the jewellery lovers, boutique toys for children, vintage clothing galore, zany socks, candles, crystals, sunglasses — you name it. Happening Wednesday night from 5pm until 10pm.

FREE New Years Day Party

There’s a party down at St. Ali and everyone is invited! To celebrate their 15th birthday, the team are going all out with a full laneway party on NYD. Starting from 7am till late, they’re championing the best of South Melbourne with smash hits, fancy beers, natty wines and killer spritz. St Ali will be open and serving up dishes all day, with the team from Lune Croissanterie dreaming up a NYD croissant to remember (numbers strictly limited).

Vida Melbourne Latin Summer Festival

Summer is coming to you in full swing. Get ready for not one, big two big weekends of Latin flavours and vibes on 10-12 and 18-19 January. At the Vida Melbourne Latin Summer Festival, you can see salsa experts take to the stage, then join in and learn from the masters in an outdoor class. Enjoy the best in latin street food and have a feast in friends, with local eats from Peru to Mexico (and also a Latin style beer garden to kick up your feet and relax). There’s also live entertainment from DJs and circus performers.

Collecting Comme

Collecting Comme is the newest free exhibition on at NGV. Showcasing more than 50 outfits by Comme des Garcçons, this archive brings back outfits from over 40 collections. Designer for Comme des Garcçons, Rei Kawakubo, has been remarked as one of the fashion’s most influential figures. Collecting Comme will explore Kawakubo’s work from the time of her first presentation in Paris in 1981. Known for defying convention, Kawakubo has redefined fashion throughout her career – this exhibition is one not to be missed.
