Rutherglen is renowned as the Muscat Capital of the World. The Dark Side of Wine festival brings this to life with over 30 events, including degustations, bonfires, and rare-release tastings. Visitors will have the opportunity to learn from a new wave of winemakers who will share the secrets of these rich, dark wines passed down through generations.

- Uncasked at the Convent
The festival kicks off with a grand Masquerade Ball at Rutherglen Convent on 2 August. This elegant event sets the stage for the festivities, blending history with modern wine culture.
- Legend & Lore
On 3 August, Lake Moodemere will host a five-course dinner celebrating Durif and Muscat. This event promises a delightful culinary journey paired with the region’s finest wines.
- Museum Muscats
Also on 3 August, All Saints Estate offers a masterclass tasting of rare and aged Muscats. This is a must-attend for those interested in the deep, complex flavours of these unique wines.
- Infusion: A Durif-Infused Menu
