Darebin Music Feast is taking over the northern ‘burbs for an 11-day festival featuring over 600 of Melbourne’s best artists.
Take a musical tour of Melbourne’s inner north and immerse yourself in 11 days of music and performance from over 600 of the city’s most diverse artists at the 20th Anniversary Darebin Music Feast.
The festival will take place across 40 venues in Thornbury, Northcote, Preston and the new pocket of cool, Reservoir – or Rezza, as it’s know to locals.
Darebin Music Feast’s flagship event is the inaugural Reservoir Stomp, a one-day celebration of the musical and creative talent that resides in the neighborhood. Conceived by Reservoir dwellers Emma Peel (PBS) and Danny Walsh (Danny Walsh Banned), it features a rich medley of music, dance and comedy talent including Rocket Science and The Rechords.
“It occurred to us that a lot of performers are now residing in Reservoir … so we thought, why don’t we get everyone together”, said Emma Peel.
Other names on the bill at Darebin Music Feast include Clairy Browne, Dorsal Fins, Kim Salmon, 8 Foot Felix and alt-folk artists Brooke Taylor and Delsinki Records.
Venues like Northcote Social Club, Open Studio, Thornbury Theatre and The Wesley Anne will play host to the myriad musicians, bands and performers on the line up.
Headbanging and rocking out is on the cards at Enter Sandman as local guitarists and metal heads take part in that iconic rite of passage that is playing Metallica’s legendary ’90s track.
And those two dearly departed legends of music Prince and Bowie live on for one more night at Preston’s newest food and drinks den, Fresh Hood, at the Prince Bowie Dance Party. Get your sequins and platforms on and join the party as the Prince Bowie Dancers and DJ Sean Whelan pay tribute to the Thin White Duke and the Purple One.
