A New Era in Outdoor Dining
Canadian outdoor brand Arc’teryx is set to transform the way adventurers dine with its latest project, Future Trails. Partnering with Melbourne’s innovative material studio Other Matter and Tasmanian food pioneer Rough Rice, this exciting initiative introduces the world’s first sustainable trail food with edible, zero-waste tableware. Mark your calendars for 24 May, as Future Trails makes its debut at Melbourne Design Week on Southbank.
Innovative Collaboration
Arc’teryx, renowned for its high-performance outdoor gear, has teamed up with Jessie French of Other Matter and Adam James, the creative mind behind Rough Rice. This collaboration aims to address the environmental impact of traditional food packaging and introduce a revolutionary approach to outdoor nutrition.
Sustainable Solutions
Jessie French, founder of Other Matter, highlights the importance of this innovation: “Food packaging is the largest source of plastic waste in our oceans. Future Trails offers a solution that not only enhances the outdoor dining experience but also mitigates the environmental footprint of trail food.”
What to Expect
Future Trails features algae-based bioplastics developed by Other Matter and locally sourced, fermented foods crafted by Rough Rice. This combination creates a circular, zero-waste approach to outdoor dining. Adam James of Rough Rice adds, “Nature and food innovation are my passions. Future Trails merges these to redefine outdoor food – making it natural, nutritious, and sustainable.”
