Get ready for the Disney+ Drive-In, coming to Sydney and Melbourne from spring 2020.
The return of drive-in events has been one of our favourite resurgences of 2020. From drive-in concerts to rooftop drive-in cinemas, we’ve seen plenty of inventive ways to get out and about in a COVID-safe way. And this spring, another epic drive-in cinema experience is coming to Australia and traveling its way along the east coast.
Meet the Disney+ Drive-In, a brand new drive-in cinema experiencing coming to Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne from spring 2020. In partnership with Openair Cinemas (the crew behind one of our favourite outdoor cinema events), this drive-in event will kick off from September 17th in Brisbane with sessions running every night (except Tuesdays) right up until October 18th.
For Sydneysiders, start your engines and pull into your stint of the Disney+ Drive-In, popping up from October 22nd to November 15th. At this stage the exact location of this pop-up drive-in is undisclosed, but we expected to know more once the full program is released at the end of September. As for Melburnians, the mystery continues with dates and venues yet to be announced.
As for the films on offer, expect a stack of Disney, Marvel and Pixar flicks (with double features screening most nights). Get ready for all your favourite Star Wars classics along with animated and live-action versions of Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King. Plus they’ll even be screenings of The Little Mermaid, Frozen, Wall-E, Black Panther, Thor, and Captin Marvel.
Tickets to these sessions are priced per car, ranging from $42.53 for a single film with 2 people, $52.75 for a single film with 3+ people. Want to settle in for the night? Enjoy a double feature from the comfort of your car (with tickets ranging from $73.74 to $84.51).
The Disney+ Drive-In presented by Openair Cinemas is running in Sydney this October and Melbourne (dates and locations TBC). To find out more and be the first hear about session times, click here.
