Whether you are looking for an easy ride to the beach or challenging yourself, we have a bike path and cafe for everyone.

Sydney Olympic Park – Abattoir Blues

If you’re cruising around Sydney Olympic Park and are looking for a relaxed cafe environment, head to Abattoir Blues café. This little gem is set in a 1900s building and has a large outdoor sitting area. It is the perfect place to grab a coffee or some lunch at the end of a big bike riding session around the park.

Cronulla – Harry and Mario

If you’re riding in the shire, there can be some big hills. But a lovely end destination is Cronulla with its flat terrain and beachside cafes. Lots of the cafes through Cronulla have outdoor sitting, but our pick is Harry and Mario (HAM). HAM has a unique menu with tasting boards and Paul Basset coffee. The outdoor sitting area has expanded so you can easily park your bike at your table or chain it up to a post nearby and keep a good eye on it.

Watson’s Bay – Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel or Takeaway from Doyles on the Wharf.
A challenging, steep, but rewarding ride is the coastal route along Coogee, past Bondi and up to Watson’s Bay. On a sunny day the ride is picturesque with great views the whole way. Watson’s Bay offers a few good options for a lunch pit-stop with a large, extensive menu full on seafood options and more.  The beach-side venue is beautiful to enjoy a day in the sun. Alternatively, you can opt-in for the more casual vibes by purchasing fish’n’chips from Doyles on the Wharf takeaway shop, next door to the hotel. The takeaway option means you can lounge around in the park nearby with your bike in sight.

Maroubra – Chalk Café

If you like riding your bike without the steep hills but with an equally pleasant view, try the ride from Randwick, past Coogee and then on to Maroubra. This semi-easy ride will lead you on the main road of Maroubra and close to the beach. Chalk Espresso and Tapas Bar is a great spot to perch after your ride. There is outdoor sitting on crates and inside the venue features amazing chalk artwork. The cafe is situated just off the beach and offers a unique Mexican breakfast experience. We recommend getting there after an early morning ride as the place has a strong reputation for the best coffee in Maroubra and great food to match.

Brighton-Le-Sands – Brighton Kiosk

For a flat, easy, beach-side ride, the Brighton-Le-Sands foreshore is perfect for a balmy afternoon of cruising. With restaurants and cafes aplenty, you’ll find the predominant cuisine around the area is Greek. Brighton Kiosk is a good stop as there is outdoor sitting on the boardwalk itself so you can ride up to the café with ease. It is very casual with the advantage of bike racks and bars along the beach to chain your bike. The mostly outdoor café offers healthy breakfast and lunch options as well as more traditional Greek dishes like souvlaki and grilled octopus.

Centennial Park – Centennial Parklands Dining Cafe and Kiosk

If you’re looking for a safe, generally flat and beautiful location for a family-friendly ride, look no further than Centennial Park. The options are endless in this huge park. If you have a car, you can drive your bike into the grounds before your ride. If you are from out of town, the park offers bike hire too. Enjoy the vast grounds of the park and follow the many paths and roads. If you’re feeling a little peckish you have options. Sun-drenched Centennial Parklands Dining Café offers a beautiful spot for breakfast, brunch or lunch with Double Roasters coffee and also the option for a sneaky wine. If you’re looking for a more casual affair, try Centennial Parklands Dining Kiosk, which has light snacks, baked goods and Double Roasters coffee in a buy-and-go manner.

Sydney to Wollongong

The popular Sydney to Wollongong cycle route along the Princess Highway is becoming more and more popular. With many lookouts along the way and also great cafes to stop at, we can understand why. In Wollongong itself, lots of new and cycle-friendly cafes are popping up around town and for this reason alone, many cyclists are making the commute to The Gong. One option to try is Three Chimneys, a café and bar situated off Crown Street in the centre of town. Find some bars to chain your bike outside, or ask nicely and they may allow you to bring your bike into the big industrial warehouse that is Three Chimneys.  
His Boy Elroy is another café situated away from the main street in a secluded walkway. This café serves coffee, beer and a lunch menu (we love their burger) in a small, cosy venue. Sit outside and keep and keep an eye on your wheels.
Our top pick for a bike-friendly café in The Gong is definitely Sifters. Recently celebrating their first birthday, this café is predominantly outdoor and is made out of converted shipping containers at the back of Market Street. They roast Single Origin coffee and have baked goods from Woah Nelly Bakes (delicious doughnuts).
