The Village Launch Party, Potts Point

Bars, Drink, Eat, Events, Restaurants, Sydney / 4 April 2012

Potts Point bar and bistro The Village has been quietly operating for the last few months, after being refurbished from what used to be Favela Nightclub. Situated a skip away from The Cross on a nondescript corner of Kellet Way, the multi-level establishment officially kicked off its training wheels in style with a packed out party last Wednesday night. Fruity cocktails, canapes and fire-spinners drew a stylish crowd which at the peak of the night, stood shoulder-to-shoulder in both upstairs, downstairs and in the courtyard.

The new fit-out was little rustic-chic with blackboard menus, exposed brickwork, a touch of indoor foliage and dim overhead lighting. The menu is classic a gastro-pub fair with Italian influences, canapes on the night featured seared scallops with saffron risotto, figs with goats cheese and balsamic and prosciutto-wrapped asparagus, which were rounded out by miniature ice-cream cones by Gelatissimo later on in the night. The upstairs bar exuded a more relaxed vibe, featuring wall-to-wall lounges, candles on tables and a very photogenic tree of lights. Beautiful yet laid-back, we could imagine enjoying a cocktail (or few) here on any night of the week.
