I don’t know why I haven’t done a post on Phamish before…I eat there at least once a week and it’s my favourite Vietnamese in Sydney.
I’m not even going to go into great detail about it either just take my word for it. If you haven’t been there yet, go. Stop reading this blog, walk out the door and head to Phamish right now.
When you get there, may I suggest you order the following:
- Salt & Pepper Squid
- Soft Shell Crab
- Vegetarian Rice Paper Rolls
- Snapper Fillet with Green Mango Salad
- Blue Swimmer Crab Dumplings
These are the staples and you can’t really go wrong with anything else on their menu. It’s fresh, fast and byo. Perfect for a mid week cheap eat.
There’s only one thing to be warned about…The Phamish Nazi (like the Soup Nazi in Seinfield). Serving the best Vietnamese in the east means they are always busy. Get there any night after 7pm and be prepared to put your name down and wait at The Village Hotel down the road.
Make sure you are nice to the lady with the clip board, she rules your food destiny for the night. Also, don’t expect to have a long, cosy dinner, once you’ve eaten you’ll be quickly shooed from the table to finish your wine on a stool somewhere else. It is totally worth it though.
