One Moncur Wine Bar

Drink, Eat, Restaurants, Sydney / 9 October 2013

Locals of Woollhara have a secret gem in their midst, a great little wine bar called One Moncur. Despite the name there is definitely more than one reason to raise your glass and toast this watering hole. For starters a few months ago they came under new management, changing the style of food and offering a wider variety of drinks. It was previously a Champagne bar, beautiful idea in theory but didn’t prove as popular. You can now find an abundance of local and imported wines, beers and cocktails.
Once inside you’d never guess a main road is but one block away. It’s quiet and intimate. Fake vine leaves create a canopy over the main bar with a back feature wall lined with tea-lights in empty brick spaces. It makes the place feel warm and comfortable as soon as you walk in.

Green Bean, Fig, Fetta, Eggplant and Hazelnut salad

They’ve just launched their Spring menu all focused on share style dishes. My favourite is the Green Bean, Fig, Fetta, Eggplant and Hazelnut salad. Try is with a glass of 2013 Krinklewood Francsa Mourvedre. Ms Darlinghurst suggests you steer clear of the tacos (very critical after 5 weeks in the origin country) but head straight to the cheese board and chardonnay.
One Moncur is a great spot to eat and drink the night away all summer long.
