On Thursday 31st October, the charismatic Newtown Hotel celebrated their birthday with a Halloween themed night of live music and free booze! Bones out and teeth bloodied, the crowd quickly grew into a motley crew of spooky masks, skeletons and scarecrows.
The Newtown Hotel is renowned for its laid back party style and cool community hang out. Without a doubt, their birthday was big. Bulmers and Carlton flowed freely from 6:30 – 8:30 and fired up the crowd for two awesome Aussie acts – The Preatures and Tokyo Denmark Sweden. Full capacity was reached by about 6:30pm, which left a long line snaking down King Street all eager to make it inside for some sensational sounds.
Tokyo Denmark Sweden are an upcoming band, scoring plays on Triple J, FBi and some sweet support acts for RUFUS and the most recent – The Preatures. Their refined simplicity and dance beats have the personality to go international and abroad.
The Preatures rock’n’roll quartet jammed out to an enlivened crowd. Frontwoman, Isabella Manfredi wore a wide set suit jacket that matched her vagabond-esque attitude and gospel soul voice. Their hit song, Is This How You Feel? Caused an absolute storm of spirited Newtown hooligans.
This was probably the best Halloween celebration to hit Sydney. Newtown is no stranger to the quirky, kinky and eccentrically dressed. This party took partying at the well-loved Newtown Hotel to the next level.
