Get your float on this February at the annual Manly Inflatable Boat Race.
Having stayed afloat for 16 years, the Manly Inflatable Boat Race is back to take over Manly Beach this Febraury. Finally, a publicly recognised event where floating around all day on an inflatable flamingo is celebrated.
Anchored with laughs and giggles for all ages, participants are encouraged to dress up, down or wear the classic budgie smugglers. The rules are simple. You can use any form of inflatable device in the race but it must not cost more than $60. A zoo of vessels will make their way across the one kilometre course, which kicks off at Shelly Beach.
The boat race ranks as one of the top must-do activities of summer in the Northern Beaches. It’s known for attracting all sorts of characters – don’t be surprised if you see a pirate paddling a pool pony going neck to neck with a sailor on a donut ring.
The official sausage sizzle after-party will be hosted at Hotel Steyne promising sizzling goodies and cold bevvies. They will also be giving out great prizes for those with the best costumes.
The race kicks off on Manly Beach, Sunday 23rd February 2020. Though the trigger doesn’t get pulled till 10.30am, registration starts from 8:45am but can also be done online here.
This epic charity event is raising money for a very worthy cause, with all proceeds from the event going to Tour de Cure. This charity is on a mission to fund cancer research, with this event just one of many initiatives helping to fundraise for this worthy cause. What better reason to grab your craziest outfit and funniest inflatable boat and hit the water.
