Merivale to open The Chicken Shop in Paddington

Justin Hemmes is waving his hospitality wand again and it couldn’t come a moment sooner. In a move that will provide much needed respite for the embattled stretch opposite the Paddington Markets, four new Merivale venues are set to open in the next few months. One of which is the strictly take-away only Chicken Shop.
The Chicken Shop is not going to be your typical chicken joint. Like its next door neighbour, The Paddington, the Chicken Shop will be under the direction of head chef Ben Greeno, who until recently was the executive chef at Momofuku Seiōbo. Greeno has fond memories of growing up in England and visiting his aunt in her chicken shop in Devon. Greeno is keen to recreate much of its charm while injecting his own flair and flavours.
It will be hard to miss the three French rotisseries at the heart of the eatery. On the spit will be hormone-free, “air-chilled” Bannockburn chickens. All processed without the need of nasty chemicals. In addition to some very succulent chicken, the Chicken Shop will also be serving salads and sandwiches.
The Chicken Shop opens late 2015.
