Welcome to one of Sydney’s most up-beat rooftop openings at 107 Projects
If you love checking out rooftop bars as much as us you’ll be pleased to hear of a new pop up bar opening this weekend in Redfern. Artist-run, community space 107 Projects will transform their cultural garden into a sun-soaked drinking scene, featuring live music, DJs and cold bevvies.
Hosting three parties over one big weekend, 107 Projects has gone all out with Sydney based bands and DJs. Kick back and relax while you sip espresso martinis and eat dumplings.
Kicking off the first party on Friday is Free The Beats, a Sydney-based netlabel. Free The Beats operates with a focus on releasing compilations of forward thinking electronica, downtempo, future beats, experimental and hip-hop. Free The Beats has been mixing tunes since around 2010. Artists including Billsbry and Astrix Little will be joining them for a special appearance during the evening.
On Saturday, get down to some sweet, sunny folk music with For Folk Sake. With the best offerings of live music from folk to alt, featuring a delicious @Suzy Spoon BBQ, For Folk Sake is all about enjoying your Saturday with the best of folk from around the country. They’re also all about a good play on words, so ten points for a nifty band name.
Finally, finish off the weekend with a Sunday session by Sydney crew Bare Necessities who specialise in African, Latin American and Tropical beats. Born with a shared love for sub bass, frantic percussion and street party vibes, Bare Necessities Music began as a radio show on FBI Click hosted by Sydney musicians Klue, Sam Z, Ribongia, Vuli and Moody.
Fortunately for you and your wallet, this is a FREE event. Not only are you saving yourself the dollars, but you are also supporting a non-profit artist-run cultural space.
