Creamfields 2010

[ 2 ] May 4, 2010 |

Last Friday I was sitting at my computer when an email suddenly appeared in my inbox with a free VIP ticket to Creamfields attached and my name on it.

Wonder Boy had been going on about this festival all week and was super excited about dressing up as a pirate with his friends for the occasion. I’d never even heard of any of the acts playing (except The Bloody Beetroots who I can’t bloody stand) so hadn’t paid much attention.

Where did this ticket come from? I have no idea. It definitely wasn’t Wonder Boy and none of my friends were going. The email was sent directly from moshtix and mentioned Totem Onelove who I have no affiliation with. How strange!

So there I was on Friday afternoon at 4pm staring at my screen wondering what to do. I’d already made plans to go out on my friends new boat but grey clouds creeping in were quickly deterring me.

What’s a girl to do?

I hit print, walked to the dollar store and bought myself a pirate hat, of course!

Arriving at the Horden Pavilion the next day I didn’t have high expectations. Unfortunately the little excitement I did have soon turned into disappointment.

Creamfields has been running for 12 years overseas and 2010  was its debut to Australia.

Admittedly, I’m not big on heavy dance or electronic music so it was never going to rock my world. I’d much prefer a Fuzzy festival over Creamfields. But for those who love acts such as Dirty South, Green Velvet, Steve Angello and The Bloody [can’t stand] Beetroots this would definitely be a festival worth attending.

My Creamfields 2010 Experience in Summary

The Yay

  • Dressing up as pirates with Wonder Boy and his awesome crew
  • Not having to line up to get a drink or use the toilets (which were kept exceptionally clean by festival standards).
  • Having a policeman walk past me and say “arrgh” like a pirate

The Nay

  • The sound quality- particularly in the Outrage room, it was terrible
  • A really young crowd making me question if it was an all ages event.
  • A lot of really sweaty munters

Awesome pictures MS! I fully agree with the “nays”, the sound was pretty disappointing to be fair. But also, i think the DJ’s did a pretty poor job of keeping the little momentum we had going. Another gripe was the fact that the alcohol was mid strength AND full price! Tissshh

Back to the pictures, I love that you got a picture of the guy with the “Kappa” tattoo, haha, so funny.

    Great post, much love, Phil

Haha of course I took a photo of that…no one would have believed me otherwise!

Dj’s and wimpy booze to be added to the nay list for sure.

Lucky the crew was solid and the crowd was strange enough to keep us entertained.
