Great news tequila and mezcal lovers! A new Mexican-themed bar called La Cantina has opened above the much-loved Crows Nest restaurant Los Vida. And just like it’s big brother, it’s got an impressive list of drinks, cocktails and of course, margaritas.
In contrast to the dim mood lighting, graffiti art and Mexican boxing tribute wall of the restaurant below, La Cantina is a vibrant but intimate speakeasy. The 50-seater bar provides a menu of delicious Mexican delicacies, including lobster tail and cheese gorditas served with homemade tomatillo salsa verde.
In addition to showcasing a large selection of Mexican spirits, La Cantina offers its guests the Mexican trio! A weekly hand-picked selection of artisan tequila and mezcal blends that it is followed by quite the unique drinking ritual.
Los Vida co-founder Octavio Gomez-Haro says,“The cycle starts by sipping on your tequila or mezcal. It’s then followed by having a small bite from the orange wedge that accompanies the trio. The wedge is finished with a cinnamon sparkle as the combination of these flavours expands the tasting notes of your tequila or mezcal. To wrap it up, sip on a cold beer or our house sangrita to freshen up your taste buds. This ritual is one that us Mexicans embrace to experience the full flavours of these magical spirits.”
