Father's Day 2013 Guide

Drink, Eat, Food Guide, Play, Sydney / 28 August 2013

To get you into the spirit of Father’s Day (which is this Sun 1st Sept in case you forgot), here is a hilarious (read: tragic) dad joke.
Me: Dad, can you make me a cup of tea?
Dad: *Waves his hand over my head* and says ‘Poof! You are now a cup of tea.’
Unless your dad happens to be genuinely funny, then you’ve probably heard this one or one like it many times in your life.  Despite the fact our dads never learn that they’re not as funny as they think they are, we love them anyway.
To say thanks to our dads, we’ve put together your ultimate guide for how to celebrate this Father’s Day. Here’s to our dads and dad-like figures, in all your dorky, embarrassing yet helplessly loveable glory.

PLAY

Cricket at the Park / Footy on the Beach

cricket
Nothing screams a true blue Father’s Day than spending it at the park playing cricket, or at the beach playing some good old footy. The best thing about taking spending your Father’s Day outdoors is that it’s free (not counting the ice-cream your kids are almost certainly going to want you to buy them). Pack a picnic, grab the footy/cricket set and pick your favourite park/beach spot and get out into the fresh air and have some Aussie fun.

Father’s Day Harbour Hike

If you’re a dad who loves to help out a cause, you can do just that this Father’s Day in the Fantasea Harbour Hike. The Hike is an easy 12km walk from under the Sydney Harbour Bridge, along the foreshore paths on the slow north shore to Clifton Gardens Reserve. Take a relaxing walk with the fam, uncovering the secrets of Sydney Harbour whilst also raising much needed funds for marine research.
