For Ms Darlinghurst, founder of Eat Drink Play and Secret Foodies, food is all about the people you share it with.

Inspired by this idea, Ms D looked for ways to connect outside the everyday. With a passion for sharing her inner city lifestyle with like-minded people she set out to create a space for local foodies… and Eat Drink Play was born.

She began to document her adventures, as she and her friends unearthed Sydney’s hidden gems.

Eager to include others in her culinary escapades, Ms D launched Secret Foodies in early 2010. Meeting monthly at surprise venues across Sydney, the ever-changing team of undercover foodies reviews each restaurant while making new friends.

When she’s not blogging and organizing events, you’ll find Ms D floating around Darlinghurst, taking photos and making videos of the weird and wonderful around Sydney’s east.

The Bourbon has reopened in Potts Point resembling nothing of its former life. For starters, the pokies are gone and have been replaced with style, elegance and an impressive food offering. I was recently invited to dinner at The Bourbon to try popular dishes from their new menu. Head Chef James Metcalfe brings with him a [...]

Chica Bonita

Are you are a Mexican or a Mexi-can’t? Sydney has had a Mexican invasion with lots of new south of the border inspired restaurants opening up. I say, bring it on! I am definitely a Mexi-can. I like Mexican (and food in general) that much I’d even head OTB for a good taco. That’s ‘over the [...]

The Old Growler

Me: “What does the name ‘Old Growler’ mean?” Bartender: “Well, the term ‘old growler’ can refer to two things. One is a 2-liter bottle of beer and the other is a woman’s vagina. We just liked the name and thought it fit”. There are a lot of unusual names given to new bars and The [...]

Cruise Life

Carnival Cruises invited me to experience their short trip cruise to Melbourne last week. A cruise virgin and self admitting skeptic I boarded on Wednesday night completely unaware of what to expect. I’d checked out the website and saw the ship had 40+ activities to do every day, several bars and restaurants and a giant [...]

Mr Wong

My friends Donna and Steph took me for an early birthday dinner a few weeks ago. We take it in turns to surprise each other and I’m sure it’s always really hard for them to find somewhere new when it comes to my birthday. I met them in the city early Friday evening and they [...]

Glenfiddich Dinner at Aria Restaurant

Last week I was invited to have dinner with Brian Kinsman, the Glenfiddich Malt Master from Scotland at Aria Restaurant. What a cool title…Malt Master. Not only does this important job require an excellent palette but incredible sense of smell. Brian is responsible for ensuring each single malt whisky that leaves William Grant & Sons [...]

Muse Restaurant & Cafe Hunter Valley

When you think of the Hunter Valley the first thing that jumps to mind is no doubt cellar doors, Semillon, cheese and the potential to get rather tipsy. At least that is what I usually associate with the Hunter. I’ve been there countless times and it’s always been about the wine. That was until my [...]
